happy may day. i wanted to draw you some flowers, but lack of extra ticks on the clock prevented me from doing so. instead i present you with this image i took recently while walking around nyc.
things over here are busy. work is good and plentiful, of which i am grateful for. the sunshine is coming out more and more often, of which i am also grateful for. overall things are great.
i have a habit of bookmarking websites and rarely going back to them. why? in case i want to go back someday! some might even call me a website packrat... or more specifically a url packrat. recently i decided to organize these bookmarks and delete any which i deemed not worth saving. now, something else you should know about me is that i have a hard time parting with "things". call it nostalgia, call it a packrat's nature... whatever it is, i have it. this is only proven by the fact that when organizing my bookmarks, i created a folder called "things i never look at," just so i wouldn't have to get rid of the sites. fortunatley for me, neal is very non-packrat-like, so he creates a swell balance in that regard. anyhow, i realized how silly it was to keep a folder of things i never look at (after neal laughed at me)... and in the end there were only two bookmarks in the folder.
well that's it for now and i'm out of steam have a great may!
Well, as most of you know I was making a rather long commute to Salem everyday to work at a portrait studio. Most of the time my boss drove me crazy, and other times it really was one of the best jobs I've ever had.
This last winter and into early spring we were photographing OHSET. (Oregon High School Equestrain Teams) These are 4 day events that start at 8 in the morning and can last until about 10 or even later at night. It was awful to say the least. Because of these meets I grew to hate my job, A LOT!
So this morning I got up before the sun and took a luke warm shower, because our water heater just decides to not have hot water at weird times of the day. It truely has a mind of it's own. So I get ready in the near dark trying not to wake Corey up and get in the car and head to McMinnville. Which if any of you know we almost bought a house out there. (what were we thinking, that is way out in BFE) Anyways, I get there at 7:30 and try to think happy thoughts because I know that it is going to be one long boring day. Well...as I am walking into the arena my boss comes out and says we need to talk. Usually when we talk it isn't very good, so now all those good thoughts are gone and I am really not looking forward to the convo we are about to have. He says "this isn't working out, I can't afford you in the studio any more and I can sense that you are not wanting to be there any more." I kinda felt like asking, "are you breaking up with me?" So I tell him he was right and that I didn't want to drive to Salem any more but because I had promised to work for him through the summer of 2007 I was just trying to hold on for a few more months. Then he told me I had his blessing to start my own photography studio and that he thinks I would be a kick a** photographer and I have a lot of talent. SO...check out www.alyssajul.com
The Web site is very much under construction, but the design is going to be courtesy of our amazing Hollye! I am sure that Neal will be helping as well and Corey will be learning how to use flash in order to have images "flash" on the site. So thank you to all who are involved.
Also if I hear of any of you going to "picture people", you will face the wrath of me!
This is a picture of my e-mail inbox at work. I was out of the office for 2 days. The number in parentheses (549) is the number of e-mails that I have not read yet. Indocilites - do you know any tricks to answering e-mails without having to actually read them?
something productive for you to do today! 10 April 07 - 10:27
give this game a shot and you wont be sorry! When you've finished, enter your name and click submit. Then, on the next screen, type "indocilis" for the group name to see how your score stacks up against all of the rest of the indocilis crew!
on the way home from brunch today, i found an amazing piece of wood. it spans exactly 2 feet x 2 feet. its thickness is 1.5 inches (comprised of two .75 inch boards screwed together). so my question is, what should i do with this exquisite find?
this is the research im involved in 05 April 07 - 08:38
this video clearly demonstrates the research i've been involved with here at columbia (and rockwell, their partner in industry). i know you've all wondered at times what exactly it is that i do... well, i believe this video will tell you.
I may have mentioned in a previous post that Ohio has some weird weather. Another example of this observation... The high today is 80 degrees, tomorrow it is supposed to snow. Ponder that if you want. Accompanying my shorts today, will be my snow boots in anticipation for tomorrow.
