to make a short story shorter, we're generally not celebrators of valentines day. but my absolute favorite part about the holiday is the fact that the cadbury mini eggs come out for easter. oh man, those things are the most amazing morsels of deliciousness.
ps. we're heading to oregon for the weekend. yipee!
"Leap Year has been the traditional time that women can propose marriage. In many of today's cultures, it is okay for a woman to propose marriage to a man. However, that hasn't always been the case. When the rules of courtship were stricter, women were only allowed to pop the question on one day every four years. That day was February 29th."
summer sun... something's begun... 08 February 08 - 13:28
today is just lovely. its a balmy 76° outside and the sun is oh-so pleasant! what makes it even better is that in just a few hours we'll have some house guests. corey, alyssa, jeff, and jen are making the trek down en route to a cruise. their first stop: sunny LA with the chaps. second stop: disneyland with the chaps (and the high tomorrow is 80°)! third stop: set sails for the open sea! (leaving the chaps behind). it should be good times all around. also making a surprise visit is my OCHS buddy julie c! she actually may be moving to LA... wouldn't that be fantastic??
yesterday i spent some time perusing around and ended up purchasing a few items. one of my favorites is a pair of fingerless gloves that I call "sweatpants for my fingers." neal calls them "hobo gloves." but they're super comfy and the same material as the sweatpants that i wear religiously (in private, of course). i also got one of those big core stability balls for neal. they're supposedly good for your back... and so fun to bounce around on! oh, and i couldn't pass up a few ideal cardigans. i'm seriously smitten.
by the way, whenever the sun comes through our windows in the morning, the song "summer nights" from grease pops into my head. hence the title of this post.
i want to get some hello cozy postcards printed. unfortunately right now i just need to choose one painting to print... and i cannot decide which! in fact, i haven't even narrowed it down at all. so i'm coming to you for help. which painting do you think would make a nifty postcard? (probably referring to them by date is easiest). don't forget to check out the archives as not all the work is on the home page.
"A strange sight at Grand Central. A couple of hundred people, indistinguishable from the 500,000 commuters who pass through the midtown station each day, suddenly freeze. They were part of an improv group which has put on this public event before, but never in such a theatrical space. A cop was asked what was going on: 'I have no idea! That is the craziest thing I’ve ever seen in my life, and I'm a cop!'"
